Tea Storage


The main factors affecting the storage of tea are temperature, humidity, oxygen, light, etc. First of all, tea having low moisture content can be kept better. Secondly, tea should be kept in cool and dry places. Also it should be sealed and kept out of the sun, reducing the amount of exchange with air.

Keep in dry places

If moisture content in tea leaves is too high, the leaves are prone to go bad. Onlyafter drying (moisture content below 6%) can tea leaves be stored well, and the

relative humidity of the storage space should preferably be controlled at 50% or lower.

Keep in cool places

Tea ages slowly at a low temperature and goes bad easily at a high temperature, so it is desirable to store it in cool places at temperatures between 0 and 5 degrees Celsius.

Keep in shady places

Light has a destructive effect on tea leaves. The infrared radiation in the light can convert into heat, causing the leaves to heat up. Besides, direct light will decompose the chlorophyll in tea leaves, so shading materials should be chosen

Deoxidize and seal the tea

Oxidation of lipid substances in tea leaves will produce a stale flavor, and that of amino acids makes tea less fresh. Oxidative poly acids make tea taste lighter.

Therefore, tea leaves must be sealed and deoxidized in its storage.

Keep tea separate from other items

Tea leaves are loose in texture and porous, with strong adsorption properties.

Therefore, they must be stored separately. Containers with volatile odors and those easily adsorbing unpleasant smells should be avoided in tea storage.

 

 

茶叶储存


影响茶叶储存的主要因素是温度、湿度、氧气,光照等。茶叶的储存,首先要求茶叶含水量低;其次储存环境要求低温、千燥、避光、密封,减少与空气的交换量。

防潮湿,干燥储存

当茶叶中的含水量过高时,茶叶容易陈化和变质。茶叶必须干燥后(含水量在6%以下)进行储存,贮存空问的相对湿度最好控制在50%以下。

防高温,低温储存 

茶叶在低温时陈化缓慢,温度高时则品质下降快,宜在低温(0-5°C)环境中储存。

防光照,避光储存 

光服对茶叶有破坏作用,光线中的红外辐射可转化成热能,使茶叶升温;茶叶在光线的照射下,还会使叶绿素分解褪色,因此包装材料宜选用遮光材质。

防氧化,脱氧密封储存

茶叶中类脂物质的氧化会产生陈味,纸基酸的氧化可导致鲜味下降,多酸类氧化会使茶味变淡。因此,茶叶必须进行隔氧密封储存。

防吸附,单独储存

茶叶本身质地松而孔隙多,具有很强的吸附性能。因此,茶叶必须单独储存,不得用有挥发气味的容器或易吸附其他异味的容器装储茶叶。
